The DreamWorks Animation film How to Train Your Dragon would make a great selection for your next outdoor movie screening! The films are the fifth highest grossing film series of all time (behind Harry Potter, James Bond, Star Wars, and Shrek), and is highly critically acclaimed with the winning of 17 academy awards (out of a whopping 30 nominations). The series was considered one of the most ambitious undertakings in filmmaking history, and created millions of new Tolkien fans. A great selection for your next Outdoor Movie screening would be The Jungle Book, the 1967 animation by Disney. Since its release, the film has inspired millions of children worldwide, with its classic Disney musical narrative featuring classics such as "The Bare Necessities" and "I Wan'na Be Like You". The Jungle Book was the 19th animation from Disney Animation Studios, and shows a craft in animation that is no longer had by contemporary animation such as Monsters Inc. or Toy Story. The film was the last to be produced by Walt Disney himself, who died during production of it. The 2009 film Star Trek, directed by J.J. Abrams is an excellent choice for your next outdoor movie event! The film has a whopping 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and has no doubt turned an entirely new generation into trekkies! The film stars Chris Pine as James T. We are really excited for the next and final Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, and of course we're most excited to view it as an outdoor movie! The film is set to be pretty amazing, and will be released in two parts, the first which is to be released on November 19, 2010, and the second on July 15, 2011. Both will be released in 3D, as well as 2D, so save up for your outdoor movie 3D projector so you can watch the film in 3D on your 40 foot Elite Screen!
We recently viewed the film Wendy and Lucy, an independent film directed by Kelly Reichardt, and thought we'd pass it along as a great idea for your next outdoor movie event. The film probably wouldn't work for family audiences (although it seems to be appropriate for all ages) because it wouldn't be entertaining enough for young children.
