Frequently Asked Questions — Inflatable Outdoor Movie Screens

What sizes of inflatable movie screens does Open Air Cinema sell?

We offer three product lines. Home screens come in 12-foot ($1,499), 16-foot ($1,999), and 20-foot ($3,199) sizes for backyard use. Pro screens come in 12-foot ($3,999), 16-foot ($4,499), and 20-foot ($5,999) sizes for event companies and commercial venues. Elite screens come in 25-foot ($13,500), 30-foot ($15,500), and 40-foot ($18,000) sizes for municipalities, military bases, and large-scale events.

What is the difference between a screen kit and a CineBox system?

A screen kit includes the inflatable screen frame, a matte-white removable projection surface, an air blower (with sound-dampening muffler on most models), tethers, and ground stakes. You supply your own projector and speakers. A CineBox system includes everything in the screen kit plus a high-definition projector, Mackie powered speakers, a media player, a MacBook Air laptop, a professional media console, and all necessary cables. CineBox is a complete outdoor cinema.

How many people can watch on each screen size?

12-foot screens comfortably seat about 200 people. 16-foot screens seat 500 to 1,000. 20-foot screens seat 500 to 3,000+ depending on standing room. 40-foot Elite screens accommodate 3,000 or more seated viewers, or up to 300 vehicles for drive-in events.

How long does setup take?

Screen kits inflate and set up in 5 to 15 minutes with one person. CineBox systems take approximately 30 to 60 minutes to fully deploy, including projector alignment and speaker positioning.

Are the inflatable screens wind rated?

Home screens are designed for moderate backyard wind conditions. Pro screens are rated for sustained winds up to 25 mph, with double-stitched seams. Elite screens are rated for winds up to 35 mph and are NFPA 701 fire compliant.

Where are Open Air Cinema screens manufactured?

All Open Air Cinema inflatable screens are sewn by hand in the United States. We have been manufacturing since 2001.

What projector do I need for an outdoor movie screen?

For 12-foot screens, 3,000 lumens works in full darkness. For 16 to 20-foot screens, 5,000+ lumens. For Elite screens (25 to 40 feet), 6,000+ lumen commercial projectors. All CineBox systems include a matched projector.

Can I wash the projection surface?

Yes. The projection surface on all models is removable and machine washable. Replacement surfaces are available.

Does Open Air Cinema offer a drive-in cinema solution?
