Movies at The Park back with 'Mystery' Film
Heritage Park will launch the second season of its popular summer outdoor movies series, Movies at the Park, with a bit of a mystery. Organizers won't release the name of the movie that will be featured first when the movie series opens July 14.
They said they're forbidden to announce the name of the flick publicly, though they can print fliers and have permission to show the movie.
All they'll say is it's a movie about a teenage wizard and his adventures and is based on a best-selling book. They're leaving the actual title to show-goers deductive powers.
It's going to be that movie that leads into the movie that's premiering around the country the following day involving a teenage wizard, said Russell Hawes, Simpsonville city administrator. It's the fifth installment of that series. That's what we'll be showing Tuesday night.
That's the way we're advertising it, Hawes said.
Contractual obligations forbid the city from releasing the name of the movie, though it can describe in depth the movie's details, said Cindy Ogletree, Heritage Park Amphitheater manager.
Ogletree said Warner Brothers, which owns the rights to the movies, placed a moratorium on the title in advance of the sixth installment's release.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince opens in theaters nationwide July 15.
They said, вЂYou can do fliers. You can pass out fliers. You can have a poster on site, but you cannot put it on your Web site or (advertise),' Ogletree said.
The movie-title mystery ends this week, however. The rest of the movie schedule will be posted at www.heritageparkamphitheater.com.
Simpsonville will show seven movies in the Tuesday evening series this summer. All movies are free. Gates to the amphitheater will open at 6:30 p.m. with children's activities and inflatable rides before the movies start after sunset, by about 8:45 p.m., Ogletree said.
Attendees can bring food and non-alcoholic drinks into the park and are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chairs. Concessions also will be sold on site.
The rest of the schedule includes:July 21: Kung Fu Panda July 28: Hotel for Dogs Aug. 4: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, sponsored by Hillcrest Memorial HospitalAug. 11: The Tale of Despereaux Aug. 18: Get Smart Aug. 25: Iron Man
