Cromarty, Scotland: Outdoor Movies at the Cromarty Film Festival
por Michael Maltsev
Right in the centre of town, and just a couple of minutes walk from the Royal Hotel, the parking area next to the Londis will once again be the outdoor movie setting for 'Northern Exposure', where we screen films in the open air, and only films made in or about Northern Scotland. This year we will be showing a number of films including Zip 'n' Zoo , a lovely short film starring John Hannah.
Each year we plan to have a very special part of our film programme dedicated to film that has some connection with the area North of the 57th Parallel (where Cromarty lies!). Called 'Northern Exposure', we like to do something a little unusual each year so... get out your coats and scarves.
So, on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th December , we'll be showing " A Poem of Remote Lives" - a classic Gaelic language film about the Scottish island of Eriskay, made in 1934 by the renowned ethnologist Werner Kissling, and John Hannah's short 2008 film "Zip and Zoo" , directed by Bruce Robertson; these will be projected onto a side of a house (in the open air!).
