Outdoor movies met the surf scene recently in Ventura, California. Wetsand.com and Patagonia presented Chris Malloy's latest 16mm surf film One Track Mind , produced in collaboration with Woodshed Films, a.k.a. "The Moonshine Conspiracy". The movie premiered in the quintessential laid back style the brothers Malloys are known for.
The Patagonia headquarters in Ventura doubled as an outdoor movie theater for a brimming audience that included world champs Kelly Slater, Tom Curren, Shaun Tomson and other surf personalities like Brad Gerlach, supergrom Kolohe Andino and many more.
A raffle and the eclectic music of the Ventura based band Rey Fresco kicked things off before Malloy introduced the outdoor film to a packed house.
Brushfire recording artist Matt Costa capped off the premiere party with a memorable performance. Costa, who was anticipated to play only a few songs, pleasantly surprised the audience by jamming for nearly an hour.
