Ventura, California: Outdoor Movies in Ventura Parks
Just a few weeks ago, the City of Ventura Cultural Affairs Division hosted four consecutive Saturday outdoor movie screenings in four of Ventura's beautiful city parks.
The first screening presented the award-winning, 2007 film La Misma Luna (Under the Same Moon), projected onto a large inflatable screen. The outdoor movie was shown in Spanish with English subtitles. The premiere event began at 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 20, at Westpark, 450 W. Harrison Ave., and had a great kickoff with a performance by local mariachi group, Halcones del Rey.
Other films in the series included The Wizard of Oz, Hairspray and Edward Scissorhands. Each screening was preceded by scheduled activities and special live performances. Concessions were available, but movie-goers were encouraged to bring their own blankets, low-seated chairs and picnic dinners. No alcohol, pets, umbrellas or grilling were allowed at the events.
