Sydney, Australia's St. George Open Air Cinema Hosts Celebrity Guests at This Summer's Outdoor Movie Premier

Sir Michael Parkinson attended opening night at Sydney’s St. George Open Air Cinema, watching the Australian outdoor premiere of Milk, starring Sean Penn. The 72-year-old British talk-show host, who had recently announced his retirement, was three months into an Australian stay. “I’m here for a three-month stay and have been going to the cricket but this is the first time I’ve been invited to the open air cinema,” he said. Also in attendance: Summer Heights High’s Chris Lilley, and Darren Hayes with his husband Richard Cullen.
Managing director Rob Bryant said the 12-year-old event had grown well beyond a simple night out. This year, all 60,000 tickets for the 38-night season sold in five days — though a limited number would remain available at the door each night.
