Sydney, Australia's St. George Open Air Cinema Hosts Celebrity Guests at This Summer's Outdoor Movie Premier

Outdoor Movies at the St. George Open Air Cinema in Sydney, AustraliaSir Michael Parkinson is best known for checking out the cricket when he visits the Australian shores. But last night the British talk-show host was taking in the opening night of what has become a Sydney summer institution, the St George Open Air Cinema. The 72-year-old, who recently announced his retirement, was just one of a number of big names who took in the party atmosphere and the Australian outdoor movie premiere of Milk, starring Sean Penn. "I'm here for a three-month stay and have been going to the cricket but this is the first time I've been invited to the open air cinema," Sir Michael said. Also on hand to see the outdoor movie were Summer Heights High's Chris Lilley, Darren Hayes, and his husband Richard Cullen. Hayes, who flies back to London tomorrow, said he'd spent most of his three-day visit to Sydney "lying on Manly beach". St George Open Air Cinema managing director Rob Bryant said the event had become much more than a night out at the movies over its 12 years. And this year it is more popular than ever, with 60,000 tickets for the 38-night season selling out in five days. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door each night for late-comers. http://www.stgeorgeopenair.com.au/ Source: Excerpt from "Sir Michael Parkisnon gets into summer in Sydney" -The Daily Telegraph.
