Sego Music and Arts Festival Features Inflatable Screens in Provo, Utah

Sego Festival: A collaboration of 100 artists and 100 volunteers creating one historic festival.
On Friday and Saturday, September 26 and 27, the Sego Arts Foundation hosted their third annual Sego Festival in Provo, Utah. This year's festival was a collaboration of over 100 artists & 100 volunteers working together to create one cohesive festival under the theme "Own Provo".
Sego's name is derived from the sego lily, Utah's state flower, which symbolizes Utah's unique and beautiful identity and cultural heritage. "Own Provo" was chosen as this year's theme in an effort to encourage all Utah Valley residents specifically, but all Utah residents at large, to love and ultimately "own" where they live.
Quantity of time spent as a resident in Utah valley (whether it be 1 or 100 years) does not signify special importance per se, but rather each of us can bring our talents and abilities together to form a community which is unique and diverse in many aspects. The Sego Festival organizers feel that all can be involved in bringing this community together by enjoying everyone's artistic creations in multiple media, while engaging in uplifting social interaction.
Attractions during the festival included but were not limited to: 50+ bands and musicians performing on on 6 seperate stages, projected video art and film from local artists and filmmakers, and giant murals painted by local artists- all in synthesis and collaboration- ultimately forming a community and aesthetic experience which reaches beyond limitations inherent in each individual artistic media. Prominently featured with the bands were giant inflatable screens, enhancing the visual experience. Open Air Cinema donated 2 inflatable screens along with 2 projectors and event staff. Other attractions and features included a boutique market with 40+ local crafters, conceptual modern dance performances, local artist booths, local restaurant and food vendors, and assorted family friendly activities throughout the festival.
There was a kick-off event on Friday, September 26 at 6pm which ran throughout the evening. This was located at 100 N University Avenue in downtown Provo. The festival continued on Saturday, September 27 at 12pm at the Rock Castle Amphitheatre at 1300 E Center Street in Provo.
All events were free and open to the public. There was no admittance fee to any individual performances or activities.
The Sego Festival began in June of 2006, when a group of artists in the community felt the vibrancy of the contemporary art, music, and film in Utah Valley, and saw a need to create a showcase to promote and inspire that art in the community. The Sego Arts Foundation is registered non-profit organization run completely by local volunteers serving to promote and foster the contemporary arts in Utah County.
