Second Outdoor Movie Celebrates Football in Benson, North Carolina

Outdoor Movies in Benson, North CarolinaNow that football season is underway, pigskin stories will be swapped over dinner tables and door steps across the country. Area residents hoping to cap the weekend off with a sports tale can head to the Singing Grove in Benson for an outdoor movie showing of "Remember the Titans" Sunday night. The second film in the inaugural season for the Singing Grove Cinema is sure to be a crowd favorite. Last month's showing of "Shrek the Third" drew an estimated 175 people. Ben Murphrey, Benson's downtown development coordinator, said it was a great turnout for the first event. The movie, shown on the town's inflatable 16-foot wide screen, is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., but is dependent on the sunset. This weekend, a trivia game will entertain guests waiting for the show to start. Admission is free. Concessions will be available for sale at the park. While the Singing Grove has plenty of space, seating is limited so guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs. In case of inclement weather, the movie will be shown at the W.J. Barefoot Auditorium in the municipal building.
