San Jose Starlight Cinema Outdoor Movie Series

One of our favorite things to see here at Open Air Cinema is, regardless of the people or place that host an outdoor movie series we get to see a glimpse of their personality and culture.

There is so much that can be learned by that snippet, that lens, or that perspective that we look at people or places through. One that caught our attention was the smattering of outdoor shows that covers a range of San Jose neighborhoods, in different spots throughout downtown San Jose, in their annual Starlight Cinema series.

The series is presented by the San Jose Downtown Association, which features weekly screenings. All screenings begin at dusk. On top of that, each sow has preshow entertainment for the audience, related to the theme of the film. Get there early for good spots, bring your chairs or blankets, whatever you prefer for seats. The series began earlier this month.

The Starlight Cinema outdoor movie series continues through Aug. 21. Like we mentioned one of our favorite parts of these series is seeing the traditions emerge. The Starlight Cinema outdoor movie series has developed the tradition of a loose Zombie-O-Rama, a zombie crawl, or zombie extravaganza, this brings the outdoor movie series a fun, and slightly apocalyptic feel every year.
