On November 19th the Open Air Cinema concept which has been successfully realised by Cinerent OpenAir AG in six countries for 20 years now, premiered in Rio de Janeiro again, in the presence of many VIPs from the Brazilian film, TV and music scene. During a total of 18 evenings Claro Cine screens outdoor movie premieres of Hollywood blockbusters and Brazilian movies of which seven are exclusive Brazilian previews like "Burn after Reading" by the Cohen brothers or Ridley Scott's latest film "Body Of Lies". Around 1400 visitors are expected at the outdoor cinema every evening.
What's different in Rio compared to the Swiss concept, is the additional programme of newcomer bands or party label concerts starring artists from different regions in Brasil like the newcomers "Nacao Zumbi", "Moptop" or "Canastra". Therefore, an extra tent and stage measuring 1'500 m2 has been built on
the cinema grounds to accompany the outdoor films.
As always, the event is being held on a carefully sought out place and trendy local caterers care for a variety of high quality food and beverages to guarantee the well known Swiss Open Air Cinema athmosphere.
It is the Cinerent screen which stands on the Grosse Schanze in Berne during the Swiss summer which is now built up in the "Jockey Club" in Rio with its original art nouveau tribunes. The "Jockey Club" is set in trendy GГЎvea, in the middle of the south zone of Rio, close to the botanical gardens and only a short hop from the famous beaches of Leblon and Ipanema.
In three 40 feet overseas containers 40 tons of material were shipped from Switzerland to Brasil, including the 300 square metres screen.
The company "Day 1 Entertainment" stands for the organisation in Rio de Janeiro, it is an affiliate of SONY Music. "Day 1 Entertainment" has already implemented the Swiss OpenAir Cinema concept in Brasil in the years 2002, 2004 and 2005 in close collaboration with Cinerent OpenAir AG. Title sponsor is the telecommunications company "Claro", main sponsor is the bank "Bradesco". The event is under the patronage of the Brazilian Culture Ministry.
