Richmond, Virginia: Fun for the Family With Free Outdoor Movie Plus Cider

FREE "EERIE" CANAL BOAT RIDES: Take a free 30-minute Kanawha canal boat ride, with an historic narrator telling tales of Richmond's past. Candy will be provided for the kids. Sponsored by Venture Richmond, rides leave on the half hour from 6 to 9 p.m. on October 31st from the Canal Turning Basin at 14th and Dock Streets downtown.

FREE TACOS: Taco Bell is offering you a free Black Jack Tacos on Halloween night from 6 p.m. to midnight on Halloween night, October 31st. Offer good while supplies last.

FREE FOOD: Halloween means "Boo-ritos" at Chipoltle. Dress as your favorite burrito, bowl, salad or taco, and between 6 p.m. and closing on Saturday, October 31st and get your choice of a free burrito, order of tacos, a bowl or salad at any Chipoltle.

FREE BBQ: Check out Famous Dave's Broad Street location only in Richmond on Halloween for some fun and barbecue. Children dressed in costume will receive their choice of any kids meal on the menu, an Ice Cream Sundae and a card good for a complimentary kids meal on your next visit. To get the deal, children must be accompanied by an adult making a purchase.

COMMUNITY HARVEST FESTIVAL: Dress up for Halloween and check out the free, 4th Annual Community Harvest Festival Friday night, October 30, at the VCU Siegel Center. Hosted by Delegate Jennifer McClellan, from 6-to-8 p.m., there'll be all kinds of family fun and activities including games, ice cream, magicians, a moon bounce, and trick-or-treat candy. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Admission is free.

HALLOWEEN PARTY: United Nations Church International hosts "Candy with a Cause" on Saturday, October 31, at the Family Life Center at 3601 Dill Road. With free admission from 5-to-8 p.m. on Halloween, enjoy free food, music, and games along with a book and candy giveaway. Best Kids' costumes will win bicycles.

HALLOWEEN HOOPLA: The Children's Museum of Richmond's 9th annual Halloween Hoopla is Saturday, October 31st from 4-to-8 p.m. Children can trick or treat in their miniature Fan neighborhood, complete with spooky decorations. There'll also be ice cream, art projects, pumpkin painting and games. Children are admitted free. Adult admission is $4.00.

FREE FAMILY MOVIES: Tom Leonard's Farmers Market in Short Pump is showing a free outdoor movie, complete with warm cider. The show begins at 7 p.m. in the Hay Bale Theater. This week, on Friday, October 30th, see "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown".

FREE HALLOWEEN FUN FROM RICHMOND PARKS & REC: Richmond's Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities offers free supervised Halloween fun and games at its community centers throughout the city on Friday, Oct. 30. Here's the list:

--HICKORY HILL COMMUNITY CENTER: Children ages 6 through 12 can participate in "Halloween Happenings" at the Hickory Hill Community Center, located at 3000 E. Belt Boulevard, from 6 to 9 p.m. Activities will include pumpkin carving, a costume contest, face painting and plenty of games. Light refreshments will be served, and children who bring their own bags or baskets can decorate them for Halloween. For more information, call 646-7934.

-- HUMPRHEY CALDER COMMUNITY CENTER: Located at 414 N. Thompson St., children ages 5 to 13 can experience the thrills and chills of Halloween with a visit to the Haunted House. It will be open from 5 to 8 p.m., and free Halloween "treats" will be provided for "brave souls." For more information, call 646-1780.

--PINE CAMP ARTS AND COMMUNITY CENTER: A Harvest Festival will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Pine Camp Arts and Community Center, located at 4901 Old Brook Rd. It's for children 6 to 15 years old, and will include face painting, scary games and videos, and free pizza and candy. For more information, call 646-3672.

--ANN HARDY PLAZA: A Halloween Carnival for all ages will be held at Ann Hardy Plaza from 6 to 9 p.m. The Carnival will include a costume contest, scary movies, and Halloween games and crafts. It's located at 3300 First Ave. For more information, call 646-4824.

--RANDOLPH COMMUNITY CENTER: A Boo House will bring Halloween fun to the Randolph Community Center at 1415 Grayland Ave. It will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. Call 646-1080 for more information.

--WESTOVER COMMUNITY CENTER: Starting at 7 p.m., the Westover Community Center at 1301 Jahnke Rd. will host a flashlight pumpkin and candy hunt. A moon bounce and music will add to the Halloween fun. Call 646-8995 for more information.

--BELLEMEADE COMMUNITY CENTER: Any child age 12 and younger can come by the Bellemeade Community, located at 1800 Lynhaven Ave., on Saturday, Oct. 31, between 4 and 6 p.m. and receive a free goodie bag of treats.

FREE FRUIT PACK: Become a fan of Edible Arrangements on Facebook and you could receive one of the 100-thousand boxes of their 6-piece chocolate dipped fruit they're giving away. These boxes retail for 15-dollars each. You'll receive a coupon by e-mail that's good through November 21st.

FREE COOKBOOK: With the colder weather, you might be breaking out the Crock Pot. Here's a site where you can download and print a 55-page cookbook featuring 33 slow cooker recipes. You can also print individual recipes.
