Porterville, California: Porterville Presents Outdoor Movies

The Porterville Parks and Leisure services is presenting two programs for families to go out and enjoy outdoor movies: Movies in the Park and Dive in Theater.

It's an awesome program for the community to just come out with their families and watch movies, Movies in the Park coordinator Wes Johnson said.

Johnson said Movies in the Park is going to be held every Thursday in Murry Park for four weeks, beginning with Underdog shown on July 24. The remaining shows are Bee Movie, July 31, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Aug. 7, and Enchanted, Aug. 14.

The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and movies begin at dusk.

Leisure Services Coordinator Tonya Hall said that the event is free and that families are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs.

Hall is the coordinator of Dive in Theater, which will be held every Friday for four weeks. The first showing is Ratatouille, July 25. The remaining shows are Dr. Dolittle: Tail To The Chief, Aug. 1, Spiderwick Chronicles, Aug. 8, and Daddy Day Camp, Aug. 15.

Outdoor movies are shown in Murry Park at the city pool.

People can bring floaties and hang out in the pool while they're watching it, Hall said.
