Family-Friendly Movies Rock the Big Screen in Downtown Parker Starting June 27 The Parker Chamber of Commerce brings back its popular Parker Chamber Picture Show series for a fourth season, kicked off Saturday, June 27 in O'Brien Park in downtown Parker. A Chamber signature event, the Parker Chamber Picture Show is a fun way for families to enjoy their favorite Hollywood movies for free outdoors on the big screen. This year's event will show only G- and PG-rated movies, providing budget-friendly entertainment for all families, even those with young children. The Parker Chamber Picture Show broadcasts movies from a giant, 26-foot inflatable screen every other Saturday night throughout the summer, including: June 27, July 11, July 25, August 8 and August 22. Last year, nearly 800 people from the Parker and Denver areas came together at O'Brien Park, near the intersection of Parker Rd. and Mainstreet, to enjoy the free movies. The Parker Chamber of Commerce expects nearly 1,000 people for each event this year based on an annual growth rate of approximately 20 percent each year since its inception. "These days, many families are passing up new movies for rentals or cutting entertainment out of their budgets completely," said JoAnn (JJ) Dedmon, chair of the Parker Chamber's board of directors. "The Parker Chamber Picture Show is the perfect solution for families who want to enjoy a fun night out with the kids without a financial headache the next day." The Parker Chamber of Commerce encourages crowds to arrive early to reserve their favorite lawn seats, and to enjoy pre-show games and entertainment, including movie trivia contests and magic shows starting at 7:15 p.m. While the Chamber will offer affordable movie popcorn, candy and soda for purchase at its concession stands, guests are also welcome to bring their own picnic food as well as family pets on a leash. Featured films will begin at dusk (approximately 8:30 p.m.). The Parker Chamber Picture Show is free and open to anyone in the community, and parking is available at the O'Brien Park parking lot and Crossroads Shopping Center.
