The Pai International Film & Animation Festival 2008 invited film-lovers to the bank of the Pai river in Mae Hong Son province for 10 days of outdoor cinema — November 28 through December 7. The international programme spanned classic films, multi award-winners, animation, indie cinema, and Thai films.

Highlights included outdoor screenings celebrating HM the King's birthday, and ten short films by Thai directors under the theme “Pai, Love and Global Warming”: Thanit Jitnukul (Bang Rachan), Pratchaya Pinkeaw (Chocolate), Chalerm Wongpim, Sakchai DeeNan (Sabaidee Luang Prabang), Dulyasit Niyomkul, Kongkiat Khomsiri (Long Khong), Bandit Thongdee, Thitipong Chaisati, Kirati Promsakha Na Nakhon, and Bongkot Khongmalai. Live music from artists including the Sincharoen Brothers, Am Saowaluck, Koh Mr Saxman, and Keaw Carabao accompanied the screenings.
