Outdoor Movies Under the Iconic Brooklyn Bridge, New York
Fresh Air Flicks, a Brooklyn-based outdoor cinema company, marked its 500th screening under the Brooklyn Bridge -- 4,000 people watching Stanley Kubrick's The Shining (1980) on a two-story inflatable screen, as part of the "Movies with a View" series produced by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy.
Fresh Air Flicks delivered over 200 outdoor movie events in 2008, up from 145 the prior year. “Our clients had record attendance levels this year because more Americans are looking for ways to enjoy their community closer to home,” said founder Glen Sanders. “An outdoor movie is a safe, fun, free community event -- a great use of public space.”
