This weekend we have begun our first outdoor movies in the Haitian town of Saint Marc. Saint Marc is about an hour and a half north of Port-au-Prince, and is a tourist community for Haitians. The beautiful beaches and open spaces make it a perfect location for outdoor cinema events. В We decided to expand to Saint Marc because we want to grow our reach throughout Haiti, and bring outdoor cinema to as many people as possible.
After conducting the training on our Cinebox equipment a few days ago, Open Air employees are ready to produce screenings on their own, as they build this satellite location of Open Air Haiti. We expect that outdoor movies will take off significantly in Saint Marc, and look forward to continuing our updates on how things are going.
As we near the end of the rainy season in Haiti, we'll be able to screen more often, as outdoor movies aren't possible when it rains. В As we've discussed before, water is the greatest enemy to outdoor movie screenings and to your outdoor cinema equipment. We have to be particularly careful about keeping on top of the maintenance and care of our gear so it can last, as it is dusty and very humid in Haiti.
