Greetings from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, as we continue to offer outdoor movie screenings to the people that were affected by the devastating earthquake almost two years ago.В Our efforts to provide entertainment and cinema to the citizens of Haiti are much needed, as country is still in a state of rebuilding, even after a couple years of international intervention and assistance. Even before the earthquake, cinema did not exist in Haiti, as the last movie theaters were closed several years prior. We believe in the power of film to change lives and to provide needed entertainment and escape for everyone around the world, and when coupled with educational and health initiatives, an outdoor theater system from Open Air Cinema can be a tool for making real change.
We're going to continue to screen our outdoor movie events in the soccer stadium in Peggyville, a suburb of Port-au-Prince.В Tonight there is a large dance party taking place at the location, so we're going to set up our 16' Pro inflatable movie screen and project an advertisement for our upcoming screenings. The traditional methods of advertisement, such as social networking and email communication are not viable in Haiti, as many don't have consistent power, let alone computers or access to the internet.
