Open Air Cinema's Screening of Haitian Election Media in Villaembetta, Port-au-Prince, Haiti
Tonight was our last screening in Haiti, and we wrapped things up with a second event at Camp Villaembetta in Port-au-Prince. There was also a concurrent screening at camp Champ de Mars in downtown Port-au-Prince. The residents of Camp Villaembetta enjoyed the outdoor movie screening of the election coverage, as well as an episode of Jessifra, a national favorite comedian among Hatians.В Our local Haitian technicians have become well trained, and so setup of the Cinebox outdoor movie system was a breeze.В We are sad to be coming to an end of our outdoor movie screenings in Haiti. We have met many talented technicians who are sure to be excellent future producers of outdoor movie events here in Haiti. Our work here is a continuation of Open Air Cinema's commitment to humanitarian efforts on a global scale through the medium of outdoor cinema.В We believe that outdoor cinema is a powerful tool to educate and entertain those who are in need around the world.В Cinema has the ability to bring entire communities together and to promote and facilitate dialogue surrounding events that are relevant to such communities. We look forward to continuing our mission of helping those in need as we progress into the 2011 outdoor movie season.
