DNBA to Present Movie Nights

Every Friday night in July, from July 10-31, a large, 30-foot-wide inflatable movie screen will be set up at the corner of Sherman and Grant Avenue to screen a family-oriented film, free to all who attend. Sponsored by Continental Jewelers, the Free Friday Film Nights are a presentation of the Downtown Novato Business Association. Due to licensing agreements, the names of the films cannot be published. However, they can be readily obtained by picking up flyers from downtown merchants. The final night, July 31, is billed as teen night because the film that night may be of special interest to that age group. Screenings begin at twilight, or 15 minutes after sunset. The public is welcome to bring blankets or low-to-the-ground seating, and pack a picnic basket or purchase food from any of the downtown eateries. The City of Novato, Sonoma Bank, Millworks Novato/Signature Properties, Athas and Associates Real Estate, Pini Ace Hardware, Circle Bank, Studio4Art, the Novato Farmer's Market and New Shoes for Kids are also sponsors of the series.
