Mudgee, Australia: Outdoor Movies on an Inflatable Screen in Mudgee, Australia
Frog Rock Wines, in conjunction with Mojo Events and BE Productions, hosted the inaugural ‘Flix in the Stix’ outdoor cinema season on the winery’s lawns in Mudgee, New South Wales. A 10m × 6.5m inflatable screen was erected for six open-air screenings. “Flix in the Stix is a unique outdoor cinema production ensuring a true cinematic movie experience,” organisers said. “It all takes place under the stars in the delightful surrounds of Frog Rock Wines’ cellar door. Patrons are encouraged to pack a picnic, settle back on a picnic rug or cushion and enjoy their favourite flick on the big screen.”
The headline event was Baz Luhrmann’s Australia on Sunday 25 January, leading into the Australia Day public holiday and making its Mudgee premiere. The film starred Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, Brandon Walters, and Bryan Brown.
On-site food and drink included regional produce, free-range pork, gourmet burgers, wood-fired pizza, wine, and beer (no BYO wine). Gates open 6:30 p.m.; screenings from 8:30 p.m. A complimentary bus service departed at 6:30 p.m. from the Oriental, Tourist Office, Lawson Park Hotel, and Quality Parklands Resort.
