Today we're highlighting free outdoor movie events that are happening this summer in New York City (also known as America's Mecca, The City of Cities, The City that Never Sleeps, The Entertainment Capital of the World, and last but certainly not least The Big Apple). We all know that New York doesn't shy away from doing things right. When it comes to movies in the park on an inflatable movie screen, they hit the nail on the head. At Open Air Cinema we're right on board when New York City decides to put together 5 different movies series together, each on an inflatable movie screen, in the parks and public spaces free for the public, and that's exactly what they've done. HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival

At the Bryant Park outdoor movie series at Bryant Park (Sixth Ave and 40th St) Movies are in a traditional vein and are great for the whole family. Also if you are in New York for any of these following dates, you are conveniently able to order a picnic order with ‘witchcraft that will be there for you and your party to pick up. If you want a good seat for the inflatable movie screen, get there early. Gates open at 5 pm. The set list for this year is: Tootsie (June 17), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (June 24), Frenzy (July 1), Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (July 8), Hush...Hush Sweet Charlotte (July 15), The African Queen (July 22), A Foreign Affair (July 29), Norma Rae (August 5), The Women (August 12), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (August 19).

Riverflicks at Piers 46 and 63 on the Hudson

Recent hits on the big screen is the name of this game. Located on Piers 46 and 63 on the Hudson River, films in the Riverflicks series will be chosen from last year's big hitters, with quite a few titles geared specifically for the kids. And if that isn't enough, popcorn is on the house! General films at Pier 63 (W 22nd St at the Hudson River): Silver Linings Playbook (July 10), Looper (July 17), Argo (July 24), Moonrise Kingdom (July 31), The Avengers (August 7), Pitch Perfect (August 14), The Hunger Games (August 21). Films for the kids at Pier 46 (Charles St at the Hudson River): The Pirates! Band of Misfits (July 12), ParaNorman (July 19), Who Framed Roger Rabbit (July 26), Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (August 2), Rise of the Guardians (August 9), Beetlejuice (August 16), Adventures of Tintin (August 23).

Intrepid Summer Movie Series at the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum

At the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum, nothing could be more impressive than movies screened on an inflatable movie screen right on the flight deck, where there will also be two dozen aircraft on display at Twelfth Ave at 46th St, Pier 86. Make sure to be on time, and make a note that there's no admission after 8:30 pm. The shows are: (June 21), Jaws (June 28), Star Trek: The Motion Picture (July 26), Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (August 2), The Karate Kid (August 23).

SYFY Movies With A View at Brooklyn Bridge Pier 1

Each film in this inflatable movie screen has a globe-hopping feel, with each film highlighting a different city. They are located at the Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 1, Brooklyn, with an awesome view of the city skyline. During the event, Brooklyn Radio will play pre-feature music from the featured city of the film; BAMcinГ©matek screens short films before the main feature; and snacks are sold by Blue Marble Ice Cream, Luke's Lobster, No. 7 Subs, Lizzmonade Brooklyn, and the Brooklyn Bridge Wine Bar. Films are: Ferris Bueller's Day Off (July 11), Enter the Dragon (July 18), Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (July 25), 8 Mile (August 1), Roman Holiday (August 8), Rocky (August 15), Vertigo (August 22), and an audience pick (August 29).

Summerscreen at McCarren Park

Located at McCarren Park, Bedford Ave and N 12th St, Brooklyn, blankets and pillows are advised as the movies are screened on the basketball courts. Highlighted along with the inflatable movie screen flicks are local food trucks that will be selling good eats at the event. The films include: Can't Hardly Wait (July 10), Pee-Wee's Big Adventure (July 17), The Craft (July 24), The Goonies (July 31), Speed (August 7), and an audience pick (August 14).
