The city recreation department will sponsor an outdoor movie night this Saturday at Millville's Riverfront Park, at the intersection of Buck and Main streets. The outdoor film, shown on a giant inflatable movie screen, will be fun for the whole family.
The free outdoor cinema event will feature the movie, "The River Wild," preceded by a concert by entertainer and cover musician Keith Hickman scheduled for 7 p.m. The movie is slated to begin at 9 p.m.
The Millville Recreation Department summed up "The River Wild," as "In the tradition of Deliverance, a family's white water raft vacation careens out of control when the thrills transform into terrifying chills and spills." Meryl Streep and Kevin Bacon star in the 1994 feature film, which drew Golden Globe nominations for best supporting actor and best actress for the pair. The movie is rated PG-13 for some violence and threatening moments.
Free popcorn will be served while it lasts, according to recreation officials.
Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to the park to watch the movie on a two-story inflatable outdoor movie screen and 1,000-watt sound system.
Hickman is slated to perform cover songs from such artists as Jimmy Buffet, Roy Orbison and Elvis.
