Mandurah, Western Australia: Outdoor Movies Soon to be Featured by City

PEOPLE could soon be enjoying movies outside during spring and summer after the Mandurah City Council supported an outdoor cinema. At a committee meeting on Tuesday, councillors backed a proposal for an outdoor cinema on the grassed area of the Old Mandurah Yacht Club in Halls Head. Consultation with local residents will be sought before a decision is made. Other venues considered were Hall Park, Rushton Park, Mandurah High School oval and the Peel Education Campus oval. The yacht club location was chosen for its good grassed areas, parking and that it would provide a unique experience. Movies by Burswood are proposing to run the cinema in spring 2010 and summer 2011 for an 84-day season from December 16 to March 12, 2011. The cost to set up and run the cinema would be $100,000 and Movies by Burswood would run new release films after they have finished at Reading Cinemas. Movies by Burswood would be responsible for all operating costs. Source-http://www.mandurahmail.com.au/news/local/news/general/outdoor-cinema-proposal/1778963.aspx
