Liverpool, United Kingdom: Bombed-Out Church is Transformed into an Open Air Cinema for the Outdoor Classic Film Festival

Liverpool’s bombed-out St Luke’s Church on Berry Street was transformed into an open-air cinema for the Outdoor Classic Film Festival, showing free films at 4pm daily (except Mondays) from late November through Christmas. Programming included a Humphrey Bogart week — with Casablanca on Saturday — followed by films with Liverpool connections (Yellow Submarine, Blithe Spirit with Rex Harrison), and a Christmas week culminating in It’s a Wonderful Life on December 20. The festival was organized by Urban Strawberry Lunch and part-funded by Liverpool Culture Company.
