Recently, lack of funding and budget constraints has caused Kitsap county to cut the outdoor movies and concerts which were previously offered free to the community. But local businesses rallied behind the outdoor cinema events to bring them back to life.

Residents in Kitsap county felt that the free community events were an important part of their towns, and were able to raise the funding needed to continue the screenings and concerts. Now we are happy to report that several cities on the Kitsap peninsula are screening outdoor films for local communities.

In Bremerton a few years back, town developers wanted to gain some attention to their services so they started screening movies on the roof of an old JC Pennys building. The outdoor movies were so popular that the series has continued until this day.

Similarly, downtown Poulsbo will enjoy an outdoor cinema series, hosted by a local bookstore. Several other nearby cities are offering outdoor concerts due to popular demand. Most of these events are free and a great way to interact with the community. Community organizers have realized how important these free events are, and it looks like outdoor films and concerts are here to stay. click here for more outdoor movie events in the Seattle area
