Killeen, Texas: Outdoor Movies in the Park ends with Wizard of Oz

Movies in Your Park, a free outdoor movie series in Killeen, Texas, wraps its season with The Wizard of Oz at 8 p.m. Friday at the softball field behind the Killeen Community Center. The series — a partnership between Killeen Parks and Recreation and Time Warner Cable — ran from late June through summer with screenings of Breakfast at Tiffany's, Bee Movie, and Hitch.

Before the final film, character photo opportunities, face-painting artists, and a moonbounce inflatable open at 7:30 p.m. Vendors on hand: Chick-fil-A, Mama Soul's Catering, and Fuddruckers. Attendees are urged to bring blankets or chairs.

"For one outdoor movie showing in this year's series, we would have upwards of 500 people come out," said Megian Douglass, Killeen's recreation superintendent. "The great crowds are definitely an exciting thing. We expect to have this series continue next year around June."
