Kent, Washington: See Movies Under the Stars in Downtown Kent

Outdoor Movies in Kent, WashingtonPeople in Kent love getting together for community events, whether it be festivals, concerts, or kids activities. That's why the Kent Parks and Recreation department will be screening outdoor movies in Downtown Kent next month. On three Friday nights they will be showing movies on an inflatable screen that will be enjoyable for kids and adults alike. The outdoor cinema series has been dubbed "Summer Nights and the Silver Screen", as they aim to provide family-style entertainment for residents. About 250-300 people are expected to attend August's outdoor film events, although crowds could grow to 600-700 people. As there is no seating in the downtown plaza, movie-goers should bring chairs and blankets. There will be games and activities before the movie. The movie is free, but donations will be taken to help support the cost of the equipment and movie licensing fees. Kent Parks and Recreation is also searching for local business sponsorship. The outdoor movie projection system and inflatable screen is presented by Epic Events. The movie will be shown, rain or shine. The movies are Footloose, at 9:15 p.m. Aug. 7; Mama Mia! , the sing-along edition, at 9 p.m. Aug. 14; and Kung Fu Panda, at 8:45 p.m. Aug. 21.
