Jackalope Cinema 2026

Jackalope Cinema 2026

Make your Mornington Peninsula stay even more picture-perfect with a month-long open-air cinema program—because apparently the Peninsula wasn’t already doing enough by being outrageously beautiful all on its own.

Overview

Jackalope Hotel has the sort of dreamy Mornington Peninsula setting that makes you want to write a post-stay memoir—ideally one where you describe the infinity pool as “liquid serenity” and later have to live with yourself. Fortunately, while you’re mentally drafting Chapter One (“I Arrived… Better Than Everyone Else”), Jackalope Cinema is returning to the hotel’s vineyard for a second season of acclaimed films and beloved classics.

It’s exclusive to in-house guests and included in every stay from Sunday, March 1 to Tuesday, March 31—which is a full month of watching excellent movies outdoors while your everyday life sits at home, sending you passive-aggressive emails.

Set beside Jackalope’s tranquil infinity pool, this open-air experience is designed for guests who enjoy their cinema with a side of atmosphere. There’s a curated menu, elevated cocktails, bottomless popcorn, and house-made ice cream—which is a clever combination because it ensures you’ll be both relaxed and slightly incapable of standing up quickly afterward.

You can settle in on the pool deck for a properly Hollywood-ish evening, or—if you’ve booked a vineyard-facing room—watch from your private terrace, where you can enjoy the film while feeling quietly smug about your excellent decision-making.

The lineup

The program is curated by Jackalope founder Louis Li, and it’s one strong pick after another: classics and newer favourites, action, drama, and the kind of storytelling that makes you laugh, gasp, or stare into the middle distance for a minute afterwards like you’ve just learned something profound about the human condition.

Highlights include:

As Li puts it, storytelling runs through everything at Jackalope—design, hospitality, and now film. He studied film before moving into design and hospitality, and he’s sharing some of his favourite titles with guests.
