Homeland, Florida: Park's Christmas Makeover Included Giant Screen for Outdoor Movies
Homeland Heritage Park will host Polk County Parks and Recreation's annual Christmas Notes event Dec. 19.
The park becomes a traditional Frontier and Civil War Christmas encampment from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. as re-enactment groups demonstrate Christmas traditions from the frontier.
The evening portion features various activities for the whole family.
The Bartow High School Camerata, the Sparling Family Singers, and A Beautiful Day musical trio will perform live holiday music in the Old Methodist Church .
Families can have their photos taken with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus at the free Walgreens photo stop.В The Homeland general store transforms into a holiday gift shop where kids can shop for parents and other relatives.В Other kids' activities include inflatable bounce houses, a display from Polk County Public Safety, decorate your own stocking craft and cookie decorating.
A giant movie screen will show family-friendly holiday movies throughout the evening.В Featured movies include: How the Grinch Stole Christmas at 5:30, A Charlie Brown Christmas at 6 and The Muppet Christmas Carol at 6:30.В Homeland's Frontier Family will also read the classic story, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, and guests can enjoy a caroling hayride to view decorated homes around the historic Homeland area.
Free refreshments will be provided and a food vendor will sell hotdogs and hamburgers.В Admission to all activities is free, but the food vendor and the general store will charge small fees.
