Fort Lauderdale, Florida: Outdoor Movies are a Must-See for the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival

Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF) has presented outdoor movies since 1999, making it Florida's oldest continuous outdoor cinema programme. Its flagship series, Maroone Moonlight Movies -- sponsored by AutoNation and the Fort Lauderdale Downtown Development Authority -- has screened films monthly in Huizenga Plaza since that first year. In 2001 the City of Weston contracted FLIFF to present outdoor movies at Weston Regional Park, a programme that has continued since.
FLIFF also runs a year-round foreign film series in Hollywood (outdoor in Anniversary Park in warm months, inside the Hollywood Performing Arts Center in cooler months) and twice-yearly four-day mini-festivals at the Tropic Cinema in Key West. Beyond Broward County, the festival has carried films to North Carolina, St. Augustine, the Dominican Republic, Miami Beach, and cities throughout South Florida.
