Fayetteville, North Carolina: Fayetteville Police Kick Off Outdoor Movie Season This Saturday
Fayetteville police will kick off their third season of outdoor movies Saturday with a showing of the popular teen vampire romance, Twilight. The free outdoor film showing will be at Massey Hill Recreational Center at 1612 Camden Road. Community members, friends, and family alike are invited to enjoy movies under the stars.
The outdoor cinema event starts at 6:15 p.m. with giveaways and prizes. The movie will start at dusk. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
Police began the outdoor movie series as part of Operation Cease Fire a nationwide initiative to decrease the number of gun crimes and promote a better understanding of gun laws. It is funded by the City of Fayetteville and from a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice.
The project is a collaboration of police, the city-county parks department, Q-98 radio, the county's Partnership for Children, and the Fayetteville Swamp Dogs.
