Fall Festival in Denver, North Carolina Features Outdoor Movies
The Denver Days Fall Festival Planning Committee has announced they will be featuring outdoor movies in a nostalgic Drive-in and Cruise-in, to be held on Thursday, Sept. 25.
Picture a 1950s-style drive-in movie theater complete with classic cars. The outdoor movie show will include a family friendly film projected on a large inflatable movie screen. No drive-in movie would be complete without those old-time dancing hotdog commercials, so prepare to go back in time! The event will be held on the Denver Days Fall Festival grounds on Hwy 16, behind Century 21 Hecht Realty. As in previous years, the festival will also host Student Fun Night Thursday in the amusement area. The amusement rides will be accessible to all attendees and will provide a festive background while not disturbing our movie goers.
Festival gates will open at 5 pm on Thursday and parking is $5 per car. Movies will begin at nightfall, at approximately 7:30 pm. Attendees should bring their own lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the evening, similar to the festival's concert nights.
With the help of modern technology, including a high resolution digital projector, powerful audio speaker system and local area FM broadcast equipment to enable visitors to tune in to the show on their car radio, we'll transform the fairgrounds into an old-fashion drive-in movie theater.
To add to the atmosphere of the evening a classic car cruise-in is being organized; classic cars and hot rods will park drive-in movie style in front of the big screen. Visitors don't have to have an old car to get in on the fun though; everyone is welcome! Non-classic cars will park in the regular festival parking area and visitors can bring their lawn chairs and blankets to sit in front of the classic cars and hot rods for a great view of the big screen. To further add to the atmosphere a family friendly outdoor movie will be shown complete with cartoons to start, and those campy old intermission film clips just like the good old days! Before the movie there'll be music and dancing along with the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful cars and the exciting assortment of amusement rides.
With the old cars, Drive-in Theater, Popcorn & concessions, amusement rides, music, dancing, and more it's guaranteed to be a fun evening with a big crowd.
In the Denver Days spirit of serving the community the Denver Days Cruise-In Drive-In Movie Night will benefit a worthy cause. Because the event features beautiful old cars and hot-rods it is fitting that we have teamed up with National Drag Race Champion and local businessman Doug Herbert, to support his BRAKES program. The BRAKES program, which stands for Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe , promotes safe and responsible driving to young drivers and their parents. The organization's goal is to save lives and keep children safe.
We wanted to provide a festive and nostalgic family night that complements our regular Student Fun Night amusement rides , said Doug Rohr, Denver Days planning committee .
