Customers Interview: City of Fortuna Story
Our Proud Customers Interview Series from Open Air Cinema starts with City of Fortuna.
Parks and Recreation are among our most valued customers. We love to help with outdoor movie screenings through the dedicated staff of our nation's parks, big and small. Recently we had a chance to hear back from City of Fortuna, CA (some 300 miles north-west of San Francisco) about their experience of using our Home 20' Outdoor Movie System. They shared what prompted them to get our inflatable and some tips for dummies at the end.
Fortuna Parks and Rec. Director Cameron Mull explains:
"I had heard about the success of other outdoor movies in parks and loved the idea, so I applied for a local grant to secure the funds to purchase one of your (very affordable) packages".
Setting up and organizing their very first showing was the most challenging screening.
Open Air Cinema: Who do you normally source content from for your outdoor movie screenings?
Cameron Mull: Criterion Pictures for licensing.
OA: What was your most memorable screening last year?
CM: We had 250 people attend our outdoor showing (all are free to the public) of “The Sandlot”
OA: Would you like to share some outdoor screening management tips with your peers in other communities across the US?
CM: Do a trial set-up & run the equipment before the first showing so you are confident and not stressing when it comes to show time!
OA: What is your usual peak season for outdoor movie events?
CM: Peak season is June-August; when kids are out of school.
If you happen to be in the area around this time, follow up Fortuna's FB page for updates on their upcoming screenings in the park.
