The contrast between a film's setting and the place it is being screened could hardly be greater. Adapted from Monica Ali's best-selling novel, Brick Lane (15) follows young Bangladeshi woman Nazneen. Played by Tannishtha Chatterjee, she arrives in 1980s east London for an arranged marriage and a new life.
Set against a backdrop of cultural differences, Nazneen ends up finding her voice and her place in the world, and falls for a younger man, Karim (Christopher Simpson). The setting for this evening's Cinema Under The Stars event swaps East End hustle and bustle for something a little more genteel. The venue is Tuckwell Amphitheatre, which is tucked away in an idyllic corner of the field at Cheltenham's Dean Close School.
