If you're a student looking to take a break from Friday or Saturday night beer pong, the Boulder Outdoor Cinema could be just the $5 ticket. Their outdoor movie season kicks off July 11th, with some feature presentations like "Dr. Strangelove," "Airplane!" and "Juno," starting at 9 p.m. every Friday and Saturday night. Movies under the stars is the perfect way to enjoy a warm summer night.
Before the feature, the Open Air Cinema hosts live entertainment, costume contests and trivia, says Dave Riepe, owner of the Boulder Outdoor Cinema. Events at the Outdoor Boulder Cinema, rain or shine, take place in the back lot of the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art. With popcorn for $2, and soda and candy for $1 each, it could be well worth a weekend night.
1750 13th St. in downtown Boulder. Directly behind the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and next to the Dushanbe Teahouse.
We strive to have our feature presentation start by 9:00 PM. In the late season of August be begin movies around 8:30PM. We will have pre-movie independent shorts and live entertainment to keep you busy before the feature starts. Venue opens at 7:30 PM.
We recommend low back chairs or bean bags. Seating is general admission, but you may be directed toward the mid part of the venue if you have a high-backed chairs. Our front half of the venue is reserved for low back chairs and blankets. We still encourage couches and other whacky seating.
