Baltimore, Maryland: Outdoor Movies at Bengie's Drive-In Theater

Bengies Drive-In Theatre in Baltimore has operated since June 6, 1956, carrying the largest movie theatre screen in the United States: 52 feet high, 120 feet wide -- 6,240 square feet of projection surface. Friday and Saturday nights feature triple bills; classic cartoons, vintage trailers, and intermission clips fill the breaks. Audio broadcasts via FM transmitter, with AM provided as a backup, and in-car heaters extend the season into cool weather.
Programming follows the sunset: show time shifts weekly as the sun sets earlier or later. The opening feature is typically rated G, PG, or PG-13 regardless of the main feature. Off-season special events go out by email to subscribers of the theatre's mailing list, “The Voice.”
