At the Orfali Art Gallery in Baghdad -- which has offered exhibits, films, and musical events since 1963 -- an evening visit found an opera film playing on an outdoor screen while an Iraqi musician performed her own compositions on piano inside. Streets around the city were lit around the clock for the first time in years, and markets were fully stocked with food, clothing, and electronics.
