Abidjan, CГґte d'Ivoire: Outdoor Movies at Rex Open Air Cinema

The Rex Open Air Cinema in Abidjan, capital of Côte d'Ivoire, has been operating since at least the 1930s. Fully open to the sky, the cinema features a flat ground-level area in front of the screen and tiered seating at the rear, some of it sheltered by a balcony -- though the balcony seating itself is open to the elements, on hard wooden benches. A small concrete projection booth sits above and behind the balcony. Films of all kinds and genres are screened.
