Top 25 Outdoor Movie: Wall-E
For our next Top 25 Outdoor Movie, we’re reviewing WALL-E, the hit animation from Disney / Pixar that will entertain every member of your community, both old and young. But as usual, here is the official trailer for the film:
WALL-E is the story of a little robot named WALL-E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class), whose job is to clean up all the junk humans left behind after leaving planet Earth. He is the last robot left on Earth (as far as we can tell), going about his programmed duty of compacting trash. But one day he runs into another robot, EVE, who has been sent to Earth to find any remaining plant life. WALL-E takes EVE back to his home to show her around, and she detects a plant he recently found. She then goes into standby mode, waiting for her mother ship to return and retrieve her and the living plant. Once the mother ship comes, WALL-E clings on for dear life and is carried to the Axiom, flagship of the BnL starliner fleet and the place where humans now reside. EVE and WALL-E are then taken on a suspenseful yet fun ride as they try to save humanity by getting the human race back to Earth.

WALL-E makes a great outdoor movie: it’s filled with funny moments that make everyone laugh, as well as tender ones that make you reflect on our responsibility to keep the planet clean. The film won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature, and no doubt it deserved it. As with any animation, WALL-E projects bright and crisp thanks to its high contrast and loud, clean sound — all of which make it a great pick for your next outdoor movie. And even though many of your community members may have already seen it, WALL-E will still bring the crowd out. One way to encourage people to come is to emphasize the size of the screen: let them know the image will be huge, just like seeing the film in theaters again!
Another idea is to hold a robot costume contest before the show. You’ll be surprised how many people turn up in costume to win prizes from your local businesses. It makes the event fun and exciting, and adds to the experience in a way that’s unique and memorable.
