Replacement projection surface for Open Air Cinema inflatable movie screens. Choose your screen size (12ft by 7ft, 16ft by 9ft, or 20ft by 11ft Projection Surface) and model. The difference between Pro and Standard surfaces is the zipper type: Pro surfaces use a large heavy-duty zipper, and Standard surfaces use a good-quality but different zipper. Each order includes black ropes cut and looped, matched for the bottom and top ropes of your screen size — a total of 8 new black ropes that replace the old, used, dirty white ropes with clean black ropes that never appear dirty, even after years of use.
Replacement Surfaces for Elite Screens
We also supply replacement projection surfaces for our Elite Screens line — Elite 25, Elite 30 and Elite 40. They are theatrical grade: seamless welded vinyl, NFPA 701 fire compliant, cut by Strong/MDI in Montreal, Canada — the same plant that makes screens for commercial movie theaters. They are not listed at a fixed price here; each one is quoted to order, and you are welcome to contact Strong/MDI directly.
Unlike Standard and Pro surfaces, an Elite surface is a semi-permanent installation: the bungees stay connected and the surface remains on the frame, coming off only when a new surface is permanently swapped in. The bungees pull the vinyl taut to work out wrinkles, and with a little warmth — direct sunlight is ideal — the surface pulls absolutely wrinkle free: film-festival-grade outdoor projection.
Elite surface types
Elite screens take four surface types:
- Front projection (white, black back) — matte white with a black backing integrated into the reverse of the surface. It blocks ambient light from behind, and the rear side can get dirty without ever affecting the image. The standard Elite surface.
- Rear projection (grey) — a dedicated rear-projection surface that puts the projector behind the screen, out of the audience’s sightline.
- Dual projection (translucent bone) — a translucent bone-colored surface that takes an image from the front or the back. Lighter material, best suited to indoor and short-run outdoor events.
- Cold weather — standard vinyl is not made for hard freezes. For year-round and winter operations, ask about our cold-weather surfaces.
We’ve supplied replacement surfaces every year since 2007 — to city parks departments, military bases, resorts, universities and touring operators — in every size from 12 to 40 feet.
