The easier everything is to use, transport and pack up, the more you'll use it. The more everything stays together over the long term, so items don't get lost, misplaced or stolen, the more longevity you get from your investment.

From storage to placing the screen

It's common for outdoor cinema events to happen in parks, on ball fields and at fairgrounds, usually far from where you store your gear indoors. Every piece of gear has to cross grass, dirt and gravel, then come back again at night. Unmarked boxes and bags of small tools can easily get lost.

Carts keep it simple and save effort

  • They roll on grass and dirt.
  • They're wide and balanced, so they don't tip over while rolling, and when one works as a projection table, everything stays stable.
  • Carts and their covers make it easy to quickly protect everything from hot sun, rain and dust.

Move the gear into place and leave it covered until the right time. The cover draws less attention to the more expensive items underneath.

Utility carts for the projector and the gear

Rubbermaid BRUTE two-shelf utility cart with large pneumatic wheels

Every CineBox kit includes Rubbermaid utility carts with pneumatic, lockable wheels. We match the size to the system:

  • Standard series: the 44-inch cart, 44 × 25 × 37 inches, rated for 500 lb.
  • Pro and Elite series: the 54-inch cart, 54 × 25 × 37 inches, rated for 750 lb.

Both sizes share the same build:

  • 8-inch pneumatic casters: two swivel, and two rigid with brakes
  • Structural foam that won't rust, chip or dent
  • Lipped trays, 2½ inches deep, so cases don't slide off as the cart rolls over bumpy ground
  • A convenient tool holster with hooks for wrapped cords

One cart is the projection cart, the rolling table for the projector and Blu-ray/DVD player at showtime. The other cart, or carts, is the equipment transport cart, which carries speakers, stands, blowers, mufflers and cables between the vehicle and the field.

With a fitted cover, an open cart becomes a closed unit that keeps out weather and stays out of sight.

Elite screens: the Steel Nesting Flatbed Cart

Steel Nesting Flatbed Cart

For every Elite-sized screen, we recommend the Steel Nesting Flatbed Cart, and nothing less. Its six wheels come in handy for rolling on soft ground, because they distribute the weight evenly. These carts are indestructible and make it easy to handle a 300, 400 or 500 lb screen. The cart can load like a dolly:

  1. Lift the low flatbed end and tilt the cart up onto its handle.
  2. Roll the packed screen onto the handle, which now works like the flat plate of a hand truck.
  3. Tilt the cart back down. The cart levers the screen up onto the bed, which means only two to three employees are needed for such big screens.

The cart does the lifting so your crew doesn't have to.

Two carts, not eighteen boxes

When every cord, cable and adapter is stored in the same spot every time, setup is routine and new team members are less confused. The process centers on the carts.

Each cart has a QR code sticker for looking up live, on-the-spot weather and storm radar for your location. Just take out your phone, take a photo of the QR code, and you get:

  • A live radar map, so you can tell whether that storm on the horizon is headed your way
  • The Operator's Companion, with sunset information and actual movie start times based on the sunset time for your area
  • Links to instruction manuals and customer care contacts

If you'd rather buy your own cart directly, you don't need us. The Rubbermaid BRUTE cart is sold on Amazon, and the Steel Nesting Flatbed Cart is sold by R.W. Rogers. Both product pages link straight to the seller.
