Newark, New Jersey: Outdoor Movies Under the Stars Return to Newark

Newark, New Jersey's Prudential Center screened The Great Debaters (2007) on its enormous arena scoreboard as part of a first-of-its-kind outdoor movie event. Sponsored by the county, it was timed to National Night Out and drew an estimated 1,500 people to the plaza outside the arena. The film -- Denzel Washington's account of the Wiley College debate team that defeated Harvard in 1935 -- was chosen to inspire youth. Admission was free; food and beverage vendors were on site.
