Tulsa, Oklahoma: University of Tulsa Presents Student Films in an Outdoor Movie Screening
por Michael Maltsev
The University of Tulsa's film department is hosting an outdoor film night next Monday beginning at 8:45 p.m. to feature student films. The event is free and open to the public. It will be a great opportunity for the film students to showcase their work and for the rest of the TU community to enjoy some movies under the stars.
Bring lawn chairs and blankets to Chapman Commons (by the fountains near Collins Hall, 2905 E. Eighth St.), and you will have found the destination for Monday night's outdoor movie screenings, 14 shorts in all.
Comedy, drama, French New Wave and even a modern update on the grand MGM musicals of yesteryear (shot last fall on the TU campus) are on the program.
The films hold a great deal of potential for these new directors and producers, said Jeff Van Hanken, a filmmaker himself and assistant professor in the area of film and video studies at TU, in a recent e-mail.
Follow these filmmakers now as they plant the first seeds for what we expect to be long and fruitful careers, he said.
