San Diego, California: Help Bring Outdoor Movies Back to San Diego's Only Open Air Cinema

Outdoor Movies at San Diego's Only Open Air CinemaRight around this time of year, Cinema Under the Stars, the small, outdoor movie theater in Mission Hills, usually announces its season of classic films. But you can forget about watching "Roman Holiday" under the twinkling stars this summer. Say goodbye to those cozy, reclining chairs, along with the fuzzy blankets they hand out. And no more $1 popcorn and drinks. Due to Mission Hills zoning issues, the outdoor cinema that's housed behind Tops Salon will be dark until further notice. The decision to reopen is all up to the mayor and the city council. So right now, fans of the charming theater and outdoor films have to wait and see if they'll ever get to see "All the President's Men" outside again. If the city does decides to let it keep screening outdoor movies, the space will have to go through a major overhaul in order to be up to code. Cinema Under the Stars is a well-kept secret and beloved local haunt for outdoor films in San Diego. If you want to help, you can message Mayor Jerry Sanders on his Twitter account. Or you can contact the theater owners at Source: "GOING DARK?: Cinema Under the Stars" by Nina Garin. Read full article at:
