Another great outdoor movie event, this time in , . Each year, the Millville Recreation Department hosts an outdoor cinema event, and this year it has been scheduled for this Saturday, July 25. Movies under the stars are always fun so this is sure to be a successful community event, although the movie choice is a bit odd: “The River Wild,” starring Meryl Streep and Kevin Bacon. I’m sure it’s a good movie, although I’ve never seen it. It’s like, 25 years old, and not one of the so-called “classics”. In fact, I had never heard of the film until I came across this event. But after reading the description it sounds exciting and well-cast, and a good outdoorsy film for an outdoor film screening.

So be sure to come out for Millville Recreation Department’s outdoor movie night and see a film you may never have seen before! It will be held at Riverfront Park, at Buck and Main streets. There will also be live musical entertainment preceding the film by Keith Hickman, starting at 7pm. The film, shown on a giant inflatable movie screen, will begin at dusk. Admission is free, and popcorn will be available while supplies last.

Film Description (just in case there are any other youngins like me that have never heard of this movie!)
“The River Wild”: A family, guided by their experienced rafting mom (Meryl Streep), go on a river-rafting vacation. Along the way they meet two apparently inexperienced rafters who enlist their aid. Soon enough they find the men have less-then-honorable intentions, and the family is plunged into a vacation-gone-bad. The family must navigate the rocky waters along with their treacherous companions in order to survive their rafting trip.
