Cowra, New South Wales, Australia: Japanese Garden Perfect Setting for Outdoor Movie Screeings

Please allow me the chance to comment on the recent screening of Mamma Mia on the big screen at the Japanese Garden. I had the pleasure of attending with some friends, and was duly impressed.

Impressed by the beautiful location, all of the restaurant staff and Japanese Garden staff in attendance.

The idea of an open air cinema showcasing musicals is a fantastic idea for !

Having lived in Sydney and Canberra where these events are extremely popular and sought-out, the only thing that surprised me was the poor attendance especially considering I frequently hear children, adults and teens commenting on how little there is to do in this town and how much they miss being able to go to the movies.

Just an observation…

So, why not consider supporting this venture.

Only $10 for adults, $6.50 for pensioners and kids under five free-bargain, it can’t be the price.

Popcorn hotdogs, chips, platters, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase at very reasonable prices.

You are also able to bring a fold-out chair or blanket, very cosy indeed.

I highly recommend it and hope a support base continues to grow.

Big thankyou to all involved, you will definitely see myself in attendance, again.

Cowra, Australia: Giant Screen for Outdoor Movies Delights Locals Down Under

THE VOID left in by the closure of the Savoy Cinema has now been filled. Pics in the Sticks will be launched on Saturday 24 October with a private screening of Slumdog Millionaire.

With a giant 7m wide by 3m high inflatable screen, state of the art audio and visual equipment, Pics in the Sticks is a totally self-contained unit that can be set up anywhere there is a standard power point or, in more remote locations, by using a car battery and an inverter.

Manager Ian Mark (pictured) believes that movie nights are a great way for local clubs and charities to raise money. “People love going to the cinema and there is nothing better on a warm summer evening than sitting under the stars with a picnic and a drink, watching your favourite film on the big screen.” The system can also operate indoors at local halls and clubs, extending its use to 12 months of the year.

The first public screening will be Mamma Mia on Saturday 31 October at the Cowra Japanese Garden. “We are showing the captioned version so the audience can sing along to all the great tunes” Ian said. See next Wednesday’s Guardian or phone 6341 2233 for further information.

Pics in the Sticks will add a new dimension to corporate functions such as team-building exercises as it can be used with Wii and other interactive software. It is also available for private hire for annivesaries, birthdays, bucks and hens parties etc.
