Free Movies at Regal Cinemas: Selected G and PG movies start at 10 a.m. each Tuesday and Wednesday June 16-Aug. 13 at the following theaters: Stonecrest Stadium 22 & IMAX, Starlight Stadium 14, and Arboretum Stadium. Matthews Summer Concert & Movie Series: Every Sunday through July 25, Stumptown Park (120 S. Trade St. in Matthews) hosts entertainment including live music beginning at 7 p.m.; the movie starts around 8:30 p.m. Vendors will sell food on site. No pets allowed. www.matthews fun.com

Movies at McDowell: The McDowell Nature Center (15222 York Road) will screen a movie at 7 p.m. every Wednesday in June. All films are nature-themed and rated G or PG – with the exception of June 24’s adults-only screening. Child care will be provided for that showing for $3 per child. Movies at the Park: Movies begin at sunset on June 12, July 10 and Aug. 14 at Freedom Park, 1409 East Blvd. Free popcorn and door prizes. www.watershed charlotte.com (click on “Movies in the Park” near the top right-hand corner of the home page).

Movies in the Park at Ballantyne: Enjoy movies with free popcorn and bottled water (plus face-painting for the kids) starting at dusk on June 19, July 17 and Aug. 21 at Ballantyne Corporate Park, 13860 Ballantyne Corporate Place. http://crosspoint521.org

Movies Under the Stars: Ray’s Splash Planet will offer games and movies on the lawn at 7 p.m. July 3 and Sept. 5. Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs. CHARLOTTE, N.C. – May 12, 2009 – Epicentre Theaters and Mez are launching a premiere outdoor summer movie-going experience, “Movies on the Rooftop.” The first screening will be Sunday evening, May 31, 2009.
Movies will change weekly, but will be selected from current hits and summer blockbusters, including Angels & Demons and Transformers. Screenings will take place Sunday nights, Wednesday nights, and one additional night each week. Movies will start at sundown.
Patrons will enter through the Epicentre Theaters’ lobby, purchase their tickets for $12 and head up the escalator to the rooftop. They also can grab a bite and drink from MEZ. As they cross the turnstile, they will be handed an outdoor chair and can settle in under the stars.

Charlotte, North Carolina: Summertime Outdoor Movies Are a Hit at Chrio Church of Charlotte, North Carolina

Outdoor Movies Presented by Chrio Church of Charlotte, North CarolinaThe Steele Creek Athletic Association and a new church in the area, Chrio Church Community, teamed up this past summer to bring you free, outdoor movies at the Steele Creek Athletic Association Field. That winning team helped make a hot summer cooler than ever.

Movies were presented on a sixteen foot widescreen, with a state-of-the- art 500 watt sound system and projector. (Nothing cheesy about it). All movies were rated PG or G.

– Movies started at sundown, about 8:30 PM. First Movie was “Little Big League”, rated PG.
– Pre-show and prizes were given out before each movie!
– Attendees brought thier own chair(s), blanket(s) and personal items.
– Visitors supported the SCAA by visiting the on-site concession stand on movie nights.
