‘Golden Age’ to Open

Outdoor Movies in Sarajevo, Bosnia and HerzegovinaPortmanteau feature “Tales from the Golden Age,” written by Palme d’Or winner Cristian Mungiu, will open the 15th edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival next month, organizers said Monday.

The Romanian film, which consists of six stories directed by Mungiu, Hanno Hofe, Razvan Marculescu, Constantin Popescu and Iona Uricaru, will raise the curtain Aug. 12 for the festival that runs through Aug. 20.

“Golden Age,” about the urban myths of the last decade of the Communist Ceaucescu regime, premiered at Cannes this year and will be shown in Sarajevo at gala screenings in both the city’s National Theater and the Heineken Open Air Cinema with Mungiu and most other directors in attendance.

Open Air Cinema at the Sarajevo Film Festival, Bosnia and Herzegovina Film Festival is an international film festival with a specific goal of supporting and promoting regional cinema and authors. To this end Film Festival also founded a regional co-production market CineLink. Due to this regional focus, the festival is recognized by FIAPF as a Competitive Specialized Festival. The Festival also includes a popular component in an open-air cinema.

Sarajevo Film Festival represents the main meeting place for all regional producers and authors and is recognized by film professionals from all over the world as the pinnacle point for networking for all wishing to learn more about the possibilities this region has to offer.

Festival Programme

The Sarajevo Film Festival presents a wide programme selection of both competitive and non-competitive films. The main focus is the region of Southeast Europe and it’s filmmakers which compete in Feature, Short and Documentary film section. The festival aims to present important and innovative films of high artistic value made throughout the world. In 2007 the festival screened 170 films. It also aims to bring entertainment to the people of , through film, music, and the special open air cinema.

Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina: Outdoor Movies on the Salty Square in Tuzla

Outdoor movies have been shown on the Salty Square in . The outdoor movies are shown with the collaboration of ‘ Film Festival’.

The first outdoor movie that was shown was ‘The Road to Guantanamo’ directed by Michael Winterbottom. The film ‘Hell’ by Danis Tanovic was shown on the outdoor movie screen on the last night on Tuesday.

Lot’s of people showed up, making it a very busy and nice evening.
