Located in the capitol city of Abidjan, in the Republic country formerly known as the Ivory Coast in West Africa. Totally open to the sky, the Rex Open Air Cinema has a flat earth area in front of the screen. Outdoor movies of all kinds and genres are shown. Seating is provided in a tiered area at the rear (some of this seating is located under a balcony). The balcony is totally open to the elements and the seating in this area was on hard wooden benches.

The Rex Open Air Cinema was most likely operating from the 1930′s.

There is a small concrete block raising above and behind the balcony which contained the projection booth.
